If you're building electric bikes, scooters, robots, or any battery-powered product, this is a question you can't ignore — especially when you're planning to sell globally.

At Lilon ChargeTech, we often get asked by clients: "Which certifications do we actually need?"

So here's a straightforward guide to the Top 5 most important safety certifications for lithium battery chargers in 2025 — based on our experience working with international brands.

1. CE – For Selling in Europe

If your product is going into the EU, CE is non-negotiable.
It shows that your charger meets European health, safety, and environmental standards. Most retailers and online platformswon’t even list your product without it.

Tip: Always ask for the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) when sourcing.

2. UL – A Must for the U.S. and Canada

UL is one of the most trusted certifications in North America.
It focuses on things like electrical safety, fire resistance, and durability. If you're targeting retail shelves in the U.S., UL-listed products will give your buyers peace of mind.

We usually use UL 62368-1 or UL 1310, depending on the charger specs.

3. CB Scheme – If You're Going Global

The CB certification is like a passport for electronics.
Once your charger passes CB, you can apply for multiple country approvals without starting from scratch. It's super helpful for brands selling in more than one market.

Saves cost and time in certification.

4. KC – For Entering South Korea

Korea has its own safety mark: KC.
If your product is heading to Korean customers or retailers, this one is required. It covers both safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).

We usually pair CB + KC together for faster project rollout.

5. PSE – For the Japanese Market

Planning to sell in Japan? Then PSE is a must.
Japan's safety laws are strict and your charger needs to carry the correct diamond or circular PSE mark, depending on the product category.

We help many clients navigate this step without stress.

Bonus: What About RoHS and FCC?

While not “safety” marks exactly, these are still important.

  • RoHS limits hazardous materials — required in EU

  • FCC checks for radio/electrical interference — required in the U.S

So… Which One Do You Need?

It depends on your market.
